The jury rules in favor of CM Punk and Colt Cabana

The jury verdict in the case of Dr. Chris Amann vs. CM Punk (Phil Brooks) and Colt Cabana (Scott Colton) did not take as long as we expected. Closing arguments took place today and the jury verdict came in at approximately 3:30 pm Centeral/4:30 pm eastern time or roughly 2 hours after closing arguments. The jury found the case in favor of Punk and Cabana on all counts and neither of them will have to pay anything.

During closing arguments, Amann’s side argued that Punk and Cabana should be liable for $4 million in damages, or $1 per person that downloaded the infamous Art of Wrestling podcast that aired during Thanksgiving Day in 2014.

The main point of contention from Amann’s side was about a lump on Punk’s back. It turns out that the lump was on his backside and AJ Lee, Cabana and Punk’s massage therapist testified and said that they saw it. Amann’s side tried to poke holes into Punk’s claim and stated that his reputation was damaged because of what was said on the podcast. Specifically, the claim was that Punk “repeatedly and falsely impugned the integrity” of Amann. Amann is still employed with WWE.

Cabana was accused of helping Punk “falsely depict” Amann in a negative light through his podcast.

Obviously, this a big relief for both of them as they can now put all of this behind them.
