The Shield is done as a group but the way things are playing out on WWE television, you would get the impression that Dean Ambrose is staying with WWE. After all, it’s not common for WWE to announce that one of their wrestlers is not renewing his contract. They announced this on their own website and on their TV shows.
As previously noted, nothing has changed with Ambrose and he still plans on leaving. At least that is the word making the rounds backstage in WWE.
“I was told last night it wasn’t the case, or at least that he hasn’t signed (and granted those are two different things),” Dave Meltzer said on Monday on the Wrestling Observer website in regards to the latest rumors about Ambrose.
We might not know anything for sure on Ambrose until WrestleMania weekend or later because his contract is not due to expire until late April. Although Ambrose is not motivated by money, anything is possible and there’s always a chance WWE can approach him with an offer that would be good enough to keep him on board and away from possibly jumping elsewhere like All Elite Wrestling.
