Fans will be waiting a bit longer to see Sasha Banks back on WWE television.
Banks alongside Bianca Belair missed two house shows earlier this month in Charlotte, NC, and Columbia, SC due to “unforeseen circumstances.” She was supposed to challenge Belair for the SmackDown Women’s Title at SummerSlam but didn’t work the show even though the company was still advertising it up until Belair was in the ring, which led to the return of Becky Lynch. Banks also didn’t appear on the SummerSlam go-home and post-show editions of SmackDown.
Pwinsider.com reported today the former SmackDown Women’s Champion wasn’t backstage at last Friday’s SmackDown. They were told unless there is a last-minute change, she will not be returning this week.
The report did note there is hope that if all goes well then Banks could return on the weekend of September 10th, which includes a SmackDown TV event in New York City at Madison Square Garden.
That isn’t set in stone but is the current expectation internally. There’s still no exact word as to why she has been gone from TV.
