The Miz, who is slated to host this year’s SummerSlam, spoke about the impact of Pat McAfee in WWE while making an appearance on the latest edition of The Rich Eisen Show.
McAfee joined WWE a few years ago after working a handful of matches in WWE NXT to be a color commentator on SmackDown with Michael Cole. After taking a hiatus from the company to do College Gameday, McAfee has been full-time on Raw with Cole over the last several months.
Miz said, “He’s been amazing for us in WWE. He’s a ball of energy. He usually flies in because he does his show, and then he’ll fly right in, and he’ll do our show, and it’s very difficult to do. A lot of people are like, ‘Oh, color commentary, it’s not that hard,’ It’s very difficult. It’s a whole different mindset. And the way he’s been able to come into WWE and really just take the bull by the horns and really go out there and do just a fantastic job of storytelling. That’s what we do. We tell stories, and the way he’s able to communicate that to our audience is unmatched. He’s been doing a great job at it.”
The Miz added that Pat “is having a great time doing it” and doesn’t need any time preparing….I don’t think Pat does much preparing like he usually flies in…..he gets there a half hour before the show, and he just goes right in there and just goes. I don’t know if he prepares himself on his private jet or whatever…..he just goes in there and rocks it.”
