The Miz opens up about advice given to him by John Cena

This week on “In The Kliq,” The Miz and Maryse stopped by to discuss their past match against Edge and Beth Phoenix, John Cena’s upcoming return, and how they feel about Cody Rhodes coming back to WWE.

Maryse talking about getting involved in the storyline involving herself and The Miz against Edge and Beth Phoenix for Royal Rumble earlier this year:

“When I came back, I was coming back as a character. Then the first day I was back in WWE, I came in with my bags. I barely made it to my locker room and basically I was pulled aside and asked if I wanted to be part of the story with Beth and Edge,” Maryse said.

“Even though I said, ‘Look, I’m coming back as a character. I’m not training full time. I don’t want to be back in the ring. I have two kids. I got responsibilities. I wasn’t going to do it’, but the second they asked me, I got excited. They know. They planted the seed and I was like, ‘Okay, I’ll think about it.’ Then the next day I said, ‘Yes, I was going to do it.’ We now get to see it on Miz & Mrs. We see everything how it happened.”

John Cena is returning to RAW on June 27th. Miz was asked what it was like having memorable moments with him in the ring:

“It was a teaching moment for me. It showed me what it takes to be a main event caliber superstar. I’m very thankful for those moments because it allowed me to have the confidence I have today in my abilities,” Miz said.

Miz on if Cena has given him any advice through the years:

“Of course. Cena is a wealth of knowledge and he’s more than willing to hand it out if you’re willing to listen. He would always teach me different things in the ring that I need to do like how to listen, how to hear, what to do, and when to do it. You know, I could go on and on and on. But I mean, yeah, Cena has taught me a lot in the WWE.”

Miz on Cody Rhodes returning to WWE:

“That was huge for WWE as well as him since he came back, and it’s huge for the fans as well. I think fans all loved it watching him at Hell in the Cell on the Peacock Network last week with a torn pec. It was awe inspiring. He really showed who he is as a superstar and as a person. He knows what it takes to be in the main event. Hopefully his surgery goes really well and he’s back in no time being at the forefront of this company.”
