The Miz worked the zombie lumberjack match against Damien Priest at Sunday’s WWE WrestleMania Backlash pay-per-view event.
The match was heavily criticized due to the usage of zombies as WWE was promoting “Army of the Dead” starring former WWE Champion Dave Bautista.
It was previously noted in the daily update on F4Wonline.com that Miz suffered a knee injury in the match. Dave Meltzer provided an update on the injury during today’s episode of Wrestling Observer Radio and it turns out the injury is a torn ACL.
As it stands right now, the severity of the tear is unknown which is important as if he has a partial tear then it won’t be as serious as a full tear. If it’s the latter then Miz is out for several months.
The injury happened when Priest did a kick off the top rope and landed on Miz’s leg. Miz didn’t appear on Monday’s Raw and the storyline explanation was given by John Morrison who stated Miz had been eaten by zombies.
“So, he tore his ACL, but we don’t know the severity of the tear. The last I heard is they hoped it might be a partial tear so that might not be that serious. If it’s a full tear, that’s surgery and probably, you know 7, 8. 9 months. At 40, that’s not the best thing in the world. He’ll come back from it, I’m sure he will, but that’s a lot of time off. Hopefully for the best that it’s partial and he can make a quicker recovery. That injury is legit.”
