The next episode of Dark Side of the Ring could be more trouble for Ric Flair
The next episode of Dark Side of the Ring will focus on the late former WCW/WWE star Chris Kanyon. Kanyon stated in interviews that he believed that he was released by WWE in 2004 because he was an openly gay wrestler.
Kanyon had talked about his struggles with depression and bipolar disorder and said that he had tried to take his life on several occasions while in the wrestling business.
In 2006, Kanyon went on the Howard Stern Show to talk about why he felt he was released. Ric Flair called into the show and attempted to discredit him by saying that he was let go because he was not good enough and not because of the “choices in his life.”
Kanyon later told RF Video that he contemplated suicide after the Howard Stern Show appearance but he didn’t go through with it because his brother was with him. Kanyon told RF Video that he looked up to Flair as his hero and he is the reason why he got into wrestling. Kaynon also helped to train David Flair in WCW.
Kanyon was found dead by his brother on April 2, 2010.
On Friday, Car Shield announced that they would be pausing their commercials with Flair in them and Tommy Dreamer has been indefinitely suspended by Impact Wrestling.
Here is the video of Kanyon’s appearance (with Flair calling in) on The Howard Stern Show.
Next week’s episode of #darksideofthering is on Chris Kanyon and might not paint Ric Flair in the best light either. Clip thread under this post. pic.twitter.com/uiEN7et5Ly

Poor Kanyon was in a bad way after this appearance that he was going to throw himself in front of a train. Poor guy deserved so much better than what he got. https://t.co/KaeUbvNwci pic.twitter.com/Sh7vsH7dTt

Flair was Kanyon's hero. The reason he became a wrestler. Kanyon trained David Flair. So to see the smile on Kanyon's face when he hears Ric is on the line and then to see his face drain as the interview goes on is heartbreaking. He didnt deserve that. https://t.co/KaeUbvNwci
