The Revival’s new names were inspired by an old school WWE tag team

The Revolt formerly known as The Revival has undergone changes now that they’re outside of the WWE bubble.

Part of the transformation started with their new ring names. Obviously, they can’t use Scott Dawson & Dash Wilder due to WWE owning the rights to the trademarks.

Thus, they’re now going by Dax Harwood and Cash Wheeler. When these names were first revealed on Twitter, some fans picked up on the fact that they sound similar to Ax and Smash, a legendary tag team. It’s no secret that the former WWE stars are big old school wrestling fans.

A fan recently tweeted that he suggested Dax and Cash as names for their new pet cats. However, his wife then stated how he was just trying to rhyme with the Demolition tag team.

The fan asked Wheeler on Twitter whether his wife had figured out the homage to honor the legendary tag team with their new ring names. Wheeler stated that it was the wife of the fan that was the first figured it out. Harwood would follow up with his own tweet about the tag team name.

A report surfaced this week that The Revival had to turn over trademarks they filed in order to get their WWE release. For more on that, click here.
