Not only is The Rock going to go full heel for his latest WWE run, but he is bringing back elements from one of his past personas as inspiration.
Presser
The heel turn was put on showcase last week at the WrestleMania Kickoff press conference, where Cody Rhodes announced he would challenge Roman Reigns for the Undisputed WWE Universal Title at WrestleMania 40.
It had been expected that WWE would announce The Rock vs. Reigns at the event instead, while Rhodes had been expected to challenge World Heavyweight Champion Seth Rollins. Rock previously mocked fans of Rhodes as “Cody Crybabies.”

WrestleVotes reported the following today: “Sources suggest that The Rock is expected to fully embrace his heel turn, drawing inspiration from his past ‘Hollywood’ Rock persona. Additionally, I’m told to anticipate the release of Rock branded ‘Cody Crybabies’ merchandise. The story is just beginning…”
The Rock embraced the fans turning on him when he put over Brock Lesnar at SummerSlam in 2002 before going away to film movies when he returned the following year. He changed his character and introduced fans to “Hollywood Rock” during his feud with Hulk Hogan. He also had the gimmick for a feud and eventual match with Steve Austin at WrestleMania 19 as well as Backlash 2003 match against Goldberg.
