The Rock on how WWE used Steve Austin's beer bath segment to get around a broken neck

WWE has posted footage on their various social media accounts of WWE Hall of Famer 'Stone Cold' Steve Austin’s famous beer truck segment that took place on March 22, 1999, on an episode of Monday Night Raw.

This segment was to promote the battle between then-WWE Champion The Rock and Austin at WrestleMania that year.

In the segment, Rock, Vince & Shane McMahon are in the ring cutting a promo about Austin when he drove down to the ring and sprayed them with beer. It was an iconic moment, to say the least.

The Rock saw the footage and took to his official Twitter account where he wrote the following:

“My tough SOB brother @steveaustinBSR was operating here with a legit broken neck so we had to be creative with keeping our physicality to a minimum until our big WrestleMania match. The result was one of the most entertaining segments to ever take place on LIVE TV.”

The segment is legendary but the note about Austin's neck is something new. Everyone knows about his broken neck in 1997 but the first big Rock vs. Austin WrestleMania match was in 1999 so it's interesting to find out that the company was working with Austin to limit the physicality around this time.
