Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter is reporting that there has been talk about The Rock being interested in WrestleMania 35. The rumors about The Rock returning started a couple of weeks ago he told Cathy Kelley that he couldn’t wait to get back into a WWE ring. Later in the week, Elias called him out on Twitter.
The Rock could appear at WrestleMania as long as there is no scheduling conflict. The thing that has prevented him from doing more matches in recent years is the insurance coverage he gets for movies. Movie studios don’t want to risk him getting injured because it would delay filming. That is why his last “match” at WrestleMania 32 was so short. He is 46 years old so he might be seeing the window closing for him since the risk for injury increases as he gets older. A match at MetLife Stadium in the New York/New Jersey area would be a great place for a return and possible farewell as a wrestler.
WWE Raw will be in Miami on Monday and The Rock lives in the area (Davie, FL to be exact) so that would be a good time for a surprise appearance and, perhaps, a segment with Elias. There is always speculation on The Rock whenever Raw is scheduled for the South Florida area so we’ll see if he appears on Monday.
