Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson’s production company, Seven Bucks Productions, will produce a family adventure film, “Teddy and the Guardians of the Night,” for Netflix.
Seven Bucks Production’s Dany Garcia, and Beau Flynn’s FlynnPictureCo are also on board to produce, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The film is based on an illustration from Greek fantasy artist Alex Panagopoulos as it shows a stuffed teddy bear protecting a sleeping kid from an evil thread in her bedroom.
Josh Stolberg (Jigsaw, Spiral) and Bobby Florsheim will write the new script, based on the original draft by Luke Passmore (Archenemy). Seven Bucks president of production Hiram Garcia initially found the drawing in 2013 and saw its potential as a movie and optioned it.
Garcia said, “At Seven Bucks, we’re always on the hunt for content that can help inspire our next big story. From the moment I saw Alex’s incredible drawing, I knew there was something special there that our global audiences could respond to. We’re excited to add to our growing slate with Netflix and share this story with the world.”
FlynnPictureCo.’s Scott Sheldon will executive produce while both Chanel Bowling and Ori Marmur will oversee the project.
