The Rock vs. Cody Rhodes Is Not Happening At WWE WrestleMania 41

The Rock made an appearance on this week’s WWE Raw on Netflix premiere episode but did so as a babyface and not The Final Boss character that fans have seen for the better part of a year. He put over the company and even hugged it out with Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes during the appearance.

Originally, WWE was planning to do Rock vs. Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 this year, coming out of WrestleMania 40. Following Rock’s appearance on Raw, many felt it indicated the match wasn’t going to happen. As previously reported, The Rock is not planning to wrestle at Mania this year.

However, it’s always his call when he wants to wrestle, and he could change his mind for a match between now and Mania if he feels like he can get into ring shape. WWE is reportedly planning Rhodes vs. John Cena at WrestleMania 41.

In the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer reported that those in the company noted that “Rock vs. Rhodes, the originally planned main event for this year’s Mania, is not happening.” The idea of Rock vs. Reigns is not dead and still could happen in the future.
