The Rock wil not be appearing at WWE Survivor Series for 25th anniversary of his debut

The Man Men Pro Wrestling podcast and The Wrestling Observer Newsletter are reporting that Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will not be appearing at WWE Survivor Series as many had hoped.

WWE wanted to get him on the show to celebrate the 25th anniversary of his debut with the company. The Rock debuted on TV as Rocky Maivia at Survivor Series 1996 although he technically debuted before that because he did some dark matches and he worked in Memphis for the USWA.

The reason why he wouldn’t be able to appear live on the show is that he will be in Australia filming episodes for the second season of “Young Rock.”

Quarantine regulations would make it impossible for him to fly in from Australia for the show and then fly back to resume filming and he is expected to be in Australia until January. This does not rule out some sort of pre-taped or satellite appearance of some sort.

Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that plans for Rock vs. Roman Reigns are tentative and the current plan is for the match to happen in 2023 at WrestleMania in Los Angeles.
