The Rock wrestling at WrestleMania?

As most fans know by now, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson will be appearing at WrestleMania 32 in Dallas. The big question is whether or not he’ll be wrestling on the show. I know several people in WWE do believe that he will be wrestling on the show but management is keeping quiet on what the plans are for him.

Dave Meltzer noted that the original plans for the show were for The Rock vs. Triple H but those plans changed once an issue came up because of an insurance issue with the movie studio that Rock is working with. Then the plan was for Seth Rollins vs. Triple H but Rollins got injured so that caused WWE to start from scratch with their WrestleMania plans.

When Johnson landed the “Baywatch” role, it was said that it would be difficult for him to even appear at WrestleMania but it looks like something was worked out for him to appear in Dallas. Johnson has been telling people things like “it’s gonna be big” and “next level shit” in regards to WrestleMania. Plus, he wants to be linked to the show and the press they will get for breaking the all-time attendance record.

Meltzer also noted that there were plans for Rock vs. Brock Lesnar at WrestleMania 30 but things didn’t pan out because of the hernia and muscle tears suffered after his match with John Cena at WrestleMania 29. The plan was for the angle to start on the day after WrestleMania 29. Another idea that was pitched but never panned out was for Triple H and Stephanie vs. Vince McMahon (presumably with a wrestler representing Vince) for control of the company. This is just speculation, but The Rock (with McMahon in his corner) vs. Triple H (with Stephanie McMahon in his corner) for control of the company could be a big hook for the show. If they are able to work out a deal with Ronda Rousey then perhaps they can turn it into a tag team match. Rousey is in the same situation as Rock. She will be filming a movie so if she wants to be at WrestleMania then she’d have to work something out with the movie studio.
