The “Black Adam” film starring Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been a big success for the former WWE Champion.
The film has reached a $140 million global box office worldwide since being released in theaters on Thursday night from previews before opening in all theaters on Friday night. In the United States alone, it has earned $67 million.
The Thursday previews earned $7.6 million, while Friday earned $26.7 and Saturday night collected $23.7 million, according to Deadline.
The film scored 90% on Rotten Tomatoes, the highest for a DC movie in a decade, and is the highest opening gross ever for a film with The Rock as the primary lead.
Black Adam is the first film of 2022 to crack $50 million on its opening weekend since Thor: Love and Thunder in early July. The Rock commented on the success of the film by writing the following on Instagram on Monday morning:
“Blown away. Biggest box office opening of my entire career – as a leading man. So grateful and THANK YOU from deep in my bones for making history with me. Box office results still rolling in and I’ll keep you posted with the official numbers tomorrow….”
