Social media has been filled with shout-outs to The Rock, who just celebrated the 21st year of his WWE in-ring debut at Survivor Series 1996. A number of pro wrestlers thanked The Rock for his journey as a pro wrestler, and how it has catapulted him into an incredibly successful acting career.
Rock commented on his debut, “Crazy it all started 21yrs ago today. Made my WWE debut. My #1 goal was buy my parents their first home. 3yrs later in ‘99 I was able to. No idea where this crazy road would lead me, I just knew I was willing to work my a** off and that I loved the hell outta Waffle House.” Waffle House even honored Rock on Twitter by wishing him a happy anniversary.
In the spirit of celebrating The Rock’s 21st anniversary, The Hollywood Reporter recently interviewed his daughter, Simone Garcia Johnson, to promote her upcoming role as a Golden Globes ambassador on January 7, 2018. Aside from acting as an ambassador and partnering with the Global Girl Media charity, Simone has aspirations to walk the pro wrestling path just like her father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
“[Wrestling is] a sport that is unlike anything else in the world. There’s just a certain amount of passion that every move and match requires, and that’s so admirable. It’s definitely something I’ve thought about and want to pursue.”
The 16-year-old plans on studying business in college at NYU, then pursue wrestling before endeavoring in talent management.
