Earlier this week, pastor Ed Young conducted another out-of-character interview with The Undertaker.
Taker spoke about his life and career and he got emotional when talking about his wife Michelle McCool. Taker admitted that he was living an “excessive lifestyle” but things changed when he met McCool.
“Obviously, I’ve always knew and believed in God. I just didn’t lead my life that way,” Taker said.
“As you can imagine, you get exposed to a lot of different things because of you do. I lived a pretty excessive lifestyle and I believed in God but I wasn’t living my life for God and somehow or another – I’m gonna get choked up. She’s awesome.”
Taker joked that he was about to lose his character as he got emotional talking about McCool. He said when she first got to WWE, there were two people she didn’t want to meet. She didn’t want to meet Taker and Kane because she was terrified.
“She would get to the arenas early and try to get around to our producers and agents,” Taker said about McCool’s work ethic. “She would pick their brains and try to get them to get in the ring and work with her.”
Taker said his rule was to never date someone he works with but he broke that rule and he loved how genuine she was about her passion for wrestling. He added, “Finally, she realized that I was not satan so we ended up dating and eventually she comes to Austin [Texas].”
Taker said McCool asked him to go to church with her but he was hesitant at first. He said, “She was very persistent and she wanted me to be the man that I could be and that has nothing to do with being The Undertaker and so I went and it was the perfect circumstance at the perfect time.”
He put her over as a very strong woman and he credits her for putting his life back on track. Taker says these days he spends a lot of time reading the bible.
Taker starts talking about his wife around the 20:00 mark in the video below.
