The Undertaker had former WWE star Hornswoggle as the guest on his “Six Feet Under” podcast. They talked about their time working together in WWE, including some stories from the road. Swoggle asked Taker if he’s ever had a “pinch me” moment when he was active.
Taker said, “I think that’s one that really stands out because I met Andre as a child.” He continued, “Andre was that one of those pinch me moments, because I again, I’d met him as a child, and then I’m in the same dressing room with him, which was really cool. A lot of people don’t really understand how important Andre was to the industry.”
“So before there was a Hulk Hogan or anything, Andre was the one that was the face of wrestling, and he was the one that was doing the Johnny Carson Show, and he was the one that was doing the movies. He was just he was bigger than life. So meeting Andre was just one of those moments. It was just like, Wow. This has come full circle. As a little kid, him shaking my hand to now I’m in the same dressing room, and he hadn’t thrown me out yet.”
The Undertaker vs. Andre the Giant is a dream match that sadly never happened. The biggest reason was Andre’s health. By the time The Undertaker arrived in WWE, Andre was already struggling with serious health problems. He was in a lot of pain and it was hard for him to move around, which made wrestling a full match, especially against a strong opponent like The Undertaker, impossible.
Interestingly, it’s been said that Andre actually had an idea for a match between them. The Undertaker has shared stories of Andre telling him “One day kid, me and you. I have an idea.” Unfortunately, Andre never got to share his idea and the match never took place.
It’s a match many fans wish they could have seen. Both men were giants in professional wrestling, and their clash would have been incredible. However, it just wasn’t meant to be.
