Fans have heard over the years the saying that creative changes all the time in WWE. It’s been well documented on several occasions that Vince McMahon will arrive at TV events and rip up the script for the show just hours before it goes live.
Fightful Select shared a report today to give further insight into various storylines that have been changed over the past few weeks.
As noted, Matt Riddle was originally slated to retain the United States Title against Sheamus at WrestleMania 37. However, plans changed to Sheamus going over due to WWE planning to have them continue the feud.
Sheamus didn’t wrestle on the next two weeks’ worth of Raw episodes as WWE dropped plans for the continuation of their feud the Monday following Mania.
The company then had plans for Riddle to do a short-term feud with Randy Orton as “The Viper” put over Riddle in a match on Raw. Although Orton was in favor of working with Riddle, WWE changed plans to have Orton feud with Braun Strowman.
This was the same episode of Raw that Riddle beat Orton had originally advertised Orton vs. Strowman, but the match was pulled the day of.
Finally, it was noted that before WWE changed the Orton – Strowman feud, there weren’t immediate plans for the current program that sees Strowman align himself with Drew McIntyre to take on Mace and T-Bar. These two teams will wrestle for the second straight week on Raw tonight.
