There Have Been Discussions In WWE About Signing Two AEW Stars Who Are About To Become Free Agents

It looks like WWE is closing in on two notable signings should everything continue to go well.

As previously reported, Penta El Zero Miedo and Rey Fenix are said to have interest from WWE when their deals expire. Bryan Alvarez of F4Wonline reported that AEW internally believes Lucha Bros will leave the company for WWE once they are free and clear of their AEW deals.

This is after WrestlePurists first reported on Monday that the two were expected to leave, and AEW had to nix original plans for the Trios Championship match set for All In for later this month.Bodyslam.net previously reported that Penta’s contract was set to expire this year. While Fightful reported last month that Fenix’s contract was also coming up this year.

Fightful Select reported today that Penta’s deal is up first, and Fenix’s will be up around September. Although AEW wants to re–sign them, the process continued to get delayed. In recent weeks, it was made evident that AEW wasn’t going to get a deal done as the tag team weren’t looking to re-sign, something tipped off after Konnan sent out a tweet saying “What goes around comes around 2.”

Those Fightful spoken to” believe that the Lucha Bros want to be a package deal and don’t want to go to NXT. One source close to the duo says it wouldn’t be surprising to see him in Orlando to prepare for the defection sooner than later.”

It was added that they were told by several sources close to the tag team that they’ve been open about “in claiming that they’ve had WWE talks already and that there is a preliminary offer on the table similar to that of what AEW was offering.”

Those in WWE wouldn’t comment on the matter, as both stars remain under contract with AEW at this time.
