A new report indicates that WWE is discussing a potential return for Stone Cold Steve Austin. According to WrestleVotes Radio on Fightful Select, there have been internal discussions within the company about the Hall of Famer making an appearance in the “very near future.”
While the report does not specify the exact nature of the appearance, the timing aligns with the beginning of the road to WrestleMania. With the Royal Rumble taking place this weekend and WrestleMania season kicking into high gear, speculation will likely turn to whether the “Texas Rattlesnake” could be involved in one of the company’s upcoming Premium Live Events.
Since his in-ring return in 2022, Austin has maintained a good relationship with the company. He has stated in various interviews that he stays in shape and is always open to listening to offers if the creative makes sense. The term “return appearance” could imply anything from a one-off segment to a guest referee spot.
It is currently unknown if there are plans for him to wrestle another match, though he has not officially closed the door on the possibility since his bout with Owens. We turned down making an appearance at WrestleMania XL due to filming commitments, where he was supposed to be involved in the WrestleMania XL – Night 2 main event, a role that was later filled by The Undertaker.
