There Is No Heat On Referee Following Botched Pin Attempt In Damian Priest Vs. Seth Rollins Match

There was a lot of debate in the World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest vs. Seth Rollins match at the WWE Money in the Bank 2024 Premium Live Event this Saturday night due to a pin attempt.

The match had a stipulation that if Priest won, Rollins couldn’t challenge for the title again as long as Priest held it. But if Rollins won, Priest would have to leave The Judgment Day. Towards the end, Rollins hit the falcon arrow, and the referee stopped counting at two even though Priest didn’t kick out.

After a pause, Drew McIntyre appeared with the MITB briefcase to cash it in, and the match continued as it turned into a triple threat bout. Drew hit the future shock DDT on Priest, but then Priest clotheslined Drew. Drew managed to kick Priest before CM Punk made a surprise entrance and attacked Drew. Punk used a chair and a cable to choke Drew and even hit him in the face with the title. Priest took advantage of the chaos and pinned Drew for the victory.

There were questions about whether it was a mistake by the referee, if Priest forgot to kick out, or if Drew’s interruption caused a timing issue. Dave Meltzer mentioned on Wrestling Observer Radio that Priest simply didn’t kick out.

WrestleVotes reported today that there is no heat on the referee for the incident.
