There is still heat on Roman Reigns from WWE management

There was some discussion on Roman Reigns during Konnan’s “Keepin It 100” podcast and he confirmed that there is backstage heat in WWE towards Reigns.

Many of you will recall that Reigns pulled out of the WrestleMania tapings after learning that The Miz was sick. Reigns has not appeared on any WWE shows since that time and there have been instances where his name was removed from shows, most notably a couple of weeks ago when they showed a clip from WrestleMania 31 and the editing made it look like Reigns was not in the match.

On the weekly shows, the announcers have been told not to mention Reigns and no explanation was given on why Reigns was replaced by Braun Strowman at WrestleMania. During WrestleMania week, Triple H told ESPN that there would be an angle on SmackDown to explain why Reigns would be replaced but the angle never played out, perhaps because of miscommunication or whatever was planned was scrapped.

During that week, Reigns took to Instagram to let fans know that he pulled himself out of WrestleMania because of family reasons. Just a couple of weeks ago, Reigns told TMZ that he needed to look out for his family, including his newborn twins.

On “Keeping It 100,” Konnan answered a question from a fan about Reigns’ absence from TV. The fan wondered if WWE was just getting tired of Reigns.

Konnan responded, “I know for a fact because I was told this by people in the dressing room, that he does have heat for missing WrestleMania which to me it’s ridiculous.”

“At the end of the day, you pushed this guy down people’s throats. People didn’t get behind him until he had leukemia. Now that he’s over and he’s a babyface and people stopped booing him, now you want to bury him when you don’t have that many guys that are over? That’s why it’s hard to watch that product…”

As of this writing, WWE is continuing to move forward with SmackDown plans without Reigns. As a way to get some more star power on the show, they moved Styles to SmackDown from Raw and Strowman is the top babyface on the brand.
