WWE is looking to continue its global expansion, and a new report from Fightful Select has revealed that there is a push from within the company to hold a premium live event in China in the coming years. The report, which cites numerous people of influence within WWE, states that the idea has been discussed for a number of months. While a specific city has not been finalized, Hong Kong has been mentioned as a potential location for the event.
The potential event would mark WWE’s first show in China since before the COVID-19 pandemic. The company held a series of eight events in the country between 2016 and 2019, with most of them taking place in Shanghai. The September shows had become something of a tradition for the company, but that was halted in 2020. A return to the country with a full-scale premium live event would be a new step in their international strategy.
The push for a show in China is part of a broader global expansion for WWE under the TKO Group Holdings umbrella. In recent years, the company has held premium live events in countries such as Australia, Germany, France, and Puerto Rico. These international shows have become a key part of the company’s business strategy, often bringing in significant site fees.
WWE has already announced several other international events for the coming year. The company will be holding shows in Saudi Arabia and Australia and is also planning a “Road to Royal Rumble” tour of Europe in January 2026.
