Kevin Owens vs. Sami Zayn in an Unsanctioned Match took place at the WWE Elimination Chamber Premium Live Event from Toronto at the Rogers Centre. It was a violent match with various weapons, including chairs, tables, and a chair wrapped in barbed wire.
The match’s closing moments saw Zayn connect with the blue thunder bomb into chairs for 2. Owens wrapped a chair around Zayn’s neck and sent him into the ring post twice. Owens with a powerbomb on the apron and a second one for the win.
Sean Ross Sapp of Fightful Select reported that “the claim internally in WWE is that the barbed wire in Kevin Owens/Sami Zayn was not gimmicked or shaved down at the request of at least one talent.”
Following a match in which Owens was inflicting further damage on Zayn, Randy Orton made a surprise appearance. He delivered an RKO to Owens. Orton attempted a punt kick, but security intervened and prevented him from doing so.
