There Were A Number Of Changes Made To WrestleMania Plans After Brock Lesnar Was Pulled From WWE Royal Rumble

As was noted last night on Wrestling Observer Radio, Bron Breakker was the replacement for Brock Lesnar in the Men’s Rumble match. Lesnar was pulled after he was mentioned in the Wall Street Journal story that covered Janel Grant’s lawsuit against WWE and Vince McMahon.

Dave Meltzer wrote today that there have been a number of changes made to WrestleMania in the last few days. Meltzer wrote, “The way it was explained to me is that it involves the creative plans for Brock Lesnar and a domino effect when the decision was made at the last minute to not have Lesnar on the show due to the lawsuit.”

It was planned for Lesnar to face Dominik Mysterio at the Elimination Chamber PLE in Australia. There were also plans for Lesnar vs. GUNTHER at WrestleMania and that would have likely been for the Intercontinental Title. It’s not clear yet if those matches will be given to Breakker. Breakker talked with Cathy Kelley after the Rumble match and he referred to the “main roster” as his home so this could be his official call up.

Unless they decide to bring Lesnar back, it doesn’t look like he will be part of the WrestleMania card. Dave Meltzer also noted that all of the Breakker spots and eliminations last night were originally planned for Lesnar.

The following matches are still expected for WrestleMania 40: IYO SKY vs. Bayley for the Women’s Title, Rhea Ripley vs. Becky Lynch for the Women’s World Title, Seth Rollins vs. CM Punk for the World Title, Roman Reigns vs. Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed Universal Title. The Rock vs. Roman Reigns is expected to happen “later,” per Meltzer.
