There’s a new number 1 contender for Dean Ambrose’s Intercontinental Championship

There’s a new name in the mix for the Intercontinental Championship.

At Wednesday night’s Madison Square Garden show, Apollo Crews won a battle royal to determine who would be the number 1 contender for the Intercontinental Championship.

Crews will get a future title opportunity against Dean Ambrose. WWE did not say when he would get his title shot but it would make sense for the match to happen soon on Monday Night Raw or at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view.

This appears to be part of The McMahon’s promise to deliver more fresh match-ups and scale back on putting on so many rematches that fans perceive as stale.

For those of you wondering, the other names in the battle royal were Rhyno, Zack Ryder, The Ascension, No Way Jose, Heath Slater, Titus O’Neil, Jinder Mahal, and Curt Hawkins.
