While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted that something is going on with The Rock, and his status is more than meets the eye. This comes after he was last seen at the WWE Elimination Chamber PLE, where he aligned with John Cena, who, as a heel, attacked Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.
Fans pointed out that The Rock wasn’t mentioned during the promo segment with Cena and Rhodes during this week’s show. This is what was said on Wrestling Observer Radio.
Bryan Alvarez: “Well, tell me about Cody and John Cena and their promo.”
Meltzer: ”You know, they didn’t mention hardly at all? I don’t think they’ve mentioned him at all.”
Alvarez: “Who’s that?”
Meltzer: ”Dwayne.”
Alvarez: “Well, yeah, I mean, we talked about that on Monday. They got six weeks.”
Meltzer: ”Well, there’s more to it than meets the eye, apparently.”
Alvarez: “So he’s dropped again?”
Meltzer: ”No. I’m sure he’s not dropped. But there’s something going on.”
Alvarez: “What does that mean?”
Meltzer: ”Means there’s something going on.”
Alvarez: “We shouldn’t have brought this up if you can’t tell us any more because now you just made people angry.”
Meltzer: ”I don’t know more that’s going on. I was actually just told it’s what you think, and I don’t even know. I asked. I said, like, it’s what you think.”
Alvarez: “What I think is they’re holding it off for the next couple of weeks.”
Meltzer: ”It’s not. They said that….Well, the other sentence when they said it’s what you think is, when you figure, you know that….I think they thought that I knew which I didn’t. And they said that even if you say it, they’re gonna all deny everyone in the company will deny it. So it’s, it’s something, but I don’t know exactly what. So there you go.”
Alvarez: “All right. Well, you know, what we talk about is the New Japan Cup.”
Meltzer: ”There’s always stuff going on behind the scenes there. That’s all, you know.”
