WWE has been shaking things up on SmackDown.
On last night’s show, there were three heel turns and an apparent babyface turn.
In a brutal attack on Big E, Apollo Crews turned heel. Crews picked up the steel steps and dropped them on E. As a result of the attack, E was taken to the hospital. It’s pretty clear that Crews will be getting a rematch in the near future for the Intercontinental Championship. Presumably, that’s a match planned for WrestleMania.
Otis appears to be getting a character makeover. He and Chad Gable officially turned heel this week. Otis and Gable faced Rey Mysterio and Dominik but the match was called off by the referee because of Otis refusing to break after the 5 count. Otis delivered hit a big splash and he scaled back on his soft teddy bear demeanor. Based on how things played out last night, it looks like he is being portrayed as a ruthless monster. It’s worth noting that Otis is a favorite of Vince McMahon so he could be positioned as one of the top heels of the brand this year.
Reginald teamed up with Sasha Banks and Bianca Belair to defeat the team of Bayley, Shayna Baszler, and Nia Jax. Reginald got the pin on Jax to win the match for his team and he celebrated with them. Later in the show, Carmella tossed a drink on him so it looks like they will be splitting up soon.
All of these turns are in addition to the recent face turns of Cesaro and Shinsuke Nakamura.
