Former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Tito Ortiz has decided to come out of retirement and be an active MMA fighter yet again. This comes after he signed a contract with Combate Americas.
Ortiz was cageside at the company’s Friday night event. As of this writing, there’s no official word on who Ortiz will fight next but the possibility of him fighting former WWE Champion Alberto Del Rio is something that has been speculated on.
Dave Meltzer brought up the rumor during the latest episode of Wrestling Observer Radio. There’s no word yet on when Tito will fight but that is the big rumor.
In late 2018, Del Rio, also known as Alberto El Patron, made it known that he was preparing for a return to MMA competition to fight for the promotion sometime in 2019. It should be noted that he serves as the President of this promotion.
Del Rio actually has a background as a pro-MMA fighter as he last fought a Cage of Combat show in Madrid, Spain in 2010 where he lost to Yamamoto Hanshi by second-round TKO. He holds a pro-MMA record of 9-5.
