Tito Ortiz reveals reason his win over Alberto Del Rio was temporarily overturned

Alberto Del Rio aka Alberto El Patron took part in a fight against former UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Tito Ortiz on December 7th at the Payne Arena in Hidalgo, Texas that aired on pay-per-view.

Ortiz beat the former WWE Champion by first-round rear-naked choke submission under the Combate Americas banner.

However, last month, the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation took away Ortiz’s win for a brief time and turned it into a no-contest with a state official saying that the result is “pending a further investigation.”

However, after that investigation was conducted, the commission made the ruling that the initial outcome [Ortiz’s win] would remain in place. This led to fans speculating as to why the ruling was overturned twice with the original submission win being put back into place.

Ortiz did a recent interview where he noted that it all came down to him taking a muscle relaxer and not notifying the commission of doing so.

“It was some bullsh*t, all it was was muscle relaxers that I eat prior to when I go to sleep. They literally said that was illegal unless your doctor prescribed it and you have to write it down on the testing prior to the fight.”
