The Greatest Royal Rumble will be remembered for a lot of things from the time of the event to the fact the women’s roster had to stay at home. But many people will always remember it for the time Titus O’Neil took a running slide under the ring as he tripped during his entrance.
Daniel Bryan recently spoke to Inside The Ropes where he revealed his unique experience with Titus’ monumental botch even though he didn’t even know it was going on in the first place.
“Titus slides into the ring and punches me in the face like really hard,” Daniel Bryan remembered. “He’s got these big, huge hands and it’s like ‘boom.’ I’m like ‘woah, what happened?’ I was like enraged and I was going to kick him in the face.”
Daniel Bryan was just having himself a Royal Rumble match and was strapping in to break an all-time Royal Rumble appearance record when suddenly he saw Titus O’Neil coming at him to take out some frustrations.
“I glance up and you see the tron and they played it like twelve times in a row of him tripping, falling and sliding, under the ring,” Bryan said as he retold his side of the events in Jeddah. “I’m like ‘you know what? I understand. I’m going to go over here. I’m going to leave him be.”
But it sounds like they made up in the end because Titus O’Neil gifted D-Bry one of those new “Rumble, Stumble, or Slide” t-shirts. So in the end, it looks like there are no hard feelings because Daniel Bryan’s been punched before and O’Neil won’t be the last guy to do it.
