TNA X Division Champion Leon Slater discussed his upcoming appearance at WWE Saturday Night’s Main Event during an interview on The A2theK Wrestling Show. Slater is set to compete in a tag team match with Je’Von Evans as they take on World Tag Team Champions AJ Styles and Dragon Lee.
Slater expressed his disbelief at being included in such a significant event while still being a TNA talent. He noted the exclusivity of the card and the magnitude of the moment.
“It’s wild. And it’s another one of these things that almost feels like it’s just perfectly slotted into place for me,” Slater said. “But the fact that it’s not just any Saturday Night’s Main Event, but it’s John Cena’s last ever final appearance as an in-ring competitor is absolutely crazy. And obviously there’s very limited spots on that card. And the fact that I don’t even work for WWE, I’m still a TNA talent, and I’m on a main roster PLE, one of the biggest of the year is just, I think, a testament to the wild year that I’ve had.”
Reflecting on John Cena’s Legacy
When asked about being “handpicked” for a show curated by John Cena, Slater reflected on the impact Cena has had on the professional wrestling industry.
“I think right now is like this guy is the greatest to do what I’ve spent my life trying to do,” Slater said. “So it’s almost, I don’t want to say, a culmination of my life’s work, because I hope it keeps getting better and better, and we keep going higher and higher. But up to this point, it’s like being, like you said, being recognized by the greatest of all time and being selected for a very limited spot… by the man himself.”
