Tommaso Ciampa on his TakeOver: New Orleans match with Johnny Gargano not making WWE's top 25

Recently, WWE announced their top 25 matches of 2018. One of the matches on the list included Tommaso Ciampa besting Johnny Gargano at NXT TakeOver: Chicago II in a Street Fight at the number two spot. However, that's not the only great match Ciampa and Gargano worked together. Their match at NXT TakeOver: New Orleans was noticeably left off the list.

Gargano defeated Ciampa in the unsanctioned match via submission to be reinstated into NXT. Ciampa recently responded to fans who were mentioning the match being left off the list. The NXT Champion reminded fans that the match was unsanctioned, so he didn't officially lose a match to Gargano:

"ALOT of people upset that Ciampa vs Gargano from Takeover: NOLA didn’t make the Top 25... Like I said, it was Unsanctioned. It. Did. Not. Count. Meaning, The Champ was undefeated in 2018."

For now, Ciampa's issues with Gargano must be put aside. He will defend his NXT Title at NXT TakeOver: Phoenix against Aleister Black from the Talking Stick Resort Arena in Phoenix, Arizona on Saturday, January 26, 2019.
