Bad news has emerged regarding Tommaso Ciampa’s return from injury. Ryan Satin of Pro Wrestling Sheet is reporting that Ciampa is expected to be out of action until early 2018.
As noted, Ciampa suffered a torn ACL during a tag team match between #DIY and Sanity at an NXT live event in Highland Heights, KY two days before NXT Takeover: Chicago. It’s a shame that Ciampa will be out of action until 2018 due to his heel turn on Johnny Gargano, which is an angle that has received praise. It was reported back in May that he underwent ACL surgery in Birmingham, Alabama. Ciampa has not been seen on NXT TV since the May 31st episode where he explained why he turned on his former tag team partner at NXT Takeover: Chicago.
It was noted in the report that the estimated timetable for his return is March of 2018.
