Tommaso Ciampa Reportedly Plans To Leave WWE When Contract Expires

Tommaso Ciampa has been noticeably absent from WWE television over the last two weeks, a development that reportedly coincides with the impending expiration of his contract. While his DIY tag team partner Johnny Gargano has continued to appear on SmackDown alongside Candice LeRae, Ciampa has been missing from the lineup.

A new report suggests that this absence may be the beginning of his departure from the company. According to sources speaking to Bodyslam, Ciampa’s contract is coming up, and he currently plans on “finishing his time up with the company without a renewal.”

The report indicates that Ciampa intends to let his current deal expire rather than sign an extension. It remains unclear whether the two-time NXT Champion has chosen not to sign a new deal because he is planning to go elsewhere or if he simply wants to take time off without being under contract.

Ciampa was last seen on WWE programming during the December 19 episode of SmackDown. In that appearance, he teamed with Gargano in a losing effort against the team of Ilja Dragunov and Carmelo Hayes. Since that loss, Gargano has been featured in segments without him, leading to speculation about the status of the popular DIY tag team.

The 38-year-old veteran has been a cornerstone of the Triple H era, particularly during his time in NXT, where he became one of the brand’s most decorated stars. His main roster run had seen him reunite with Gargano. As of now, Ciampa has yet to comment on his future.
