Tommaso Ciampa’s injury is worse than initially reported

Please note, there is a NXT spoiler in the last paragraph of this post.

The latest update on Tommaso Ciampa is not good.

As previously reported, Ciampa was supposed to wrestle Cesaro this week on SmackDown Live but the match was changed because Ciampa is dealing with an injury.

PWInsider is reporting that Ciampa has a neck injury and the injury also caused WWE to rewrite Raw because Ciampa and Johnny Gargano were supposed to wrestle in a four-way tag team match that would have also included Aleister Black/Ricochet, Zack Ryder/Curt Hawkins and another team.

Raw Tag Team Champions The Revival were going to be ringside for the match but the match was changed to Revival vs. Black/Ricochet when they learned about Ciampa’s injury.

Ciampa’s neck injury is something he’s been dealing with for at least 4-5 weeks. Unless he is cleared, which seems unlikely to happen anytime soon because WWE is more careful with head and neck injuries, WWE will have to figure out a new plan for NXT TakeOver: New York where he is expected to face Johnny Gargano for the NXT Championship. As of Tuesday, Ciampa has not been cleared to wrestle.
