Tony Khan On Tommaso Ciampa: ‘To Have Somebody Of His Quality Come In, Instantly He’s Additive In AEW’

Tony Khan has officially addressed the signing of Tommaso Ciampa, labeling the former WWE standout as an immediate asset to AEW. Ciampa, who made his debut on the January 28 episode of Dynamite following the expiration of his WWE contract, has already made a massive impact by capturing the TNT Championship.

Speaking on 107.7 The Bone, the AEW President discussed the decision to bring Ciampa into the fold. Khan praised the veteran’s ability, noting that his presence elevates the quality of the entire promotion.

“He’s a fantastic wrestler, and to have somebody of his quality come in, instantly he’s additive in AEW,” Khan said.

Khan highlighted the versatility Ciampa brings to the roster, pointing out the potential for both nostalgic feuds and fresh matchups. With Ciampa’s extensive history, Khan believes there is no shortage of compelling storylines waiting to be told.

“We’ve got somebody that’s joined us who can have fantastic matches. Whether it’s an old rival or somebody fresh and new that he’s never been matched up against, there’s so many exciting possibilities for Tommaso Ciampa in AEW,” Khan explained.

Khan also stated that Ciampa’s arrival reinforces AEW’s identity as the home of top-tier wrestling. He noted that Ciampa will have the chance to mix it up with the company’s young talent as well as established stars.

“There are a lot of people he’s got existing, fired-up rivalries against, but then also there’s brand new rivalries and possibilities with so many fantastic young wrestlers, because AEW is where the best wrestle,” Khan stated.
