Outside of WrestleMania, no event is as important to the professional wrestling world as the Royal Rumble. After all, the Rumble match gives us our #1 contender for the WWE Championship at the “Showcase of the Immortals.”
Historically, the Royal Rumble has been a “one match card.” All of the focus is placed on the Rumble itself, and most events had 5 or fewer matches due to the lengthy nature of the main event. Winning the Royal Rumble means a wrestler is well on his way to establishing his main event status.
However, lost in all of the hoopla for the 30-man, over the top rope battle royal, is the fact that some of wrestling’s all-time greatest contests are hidden amongst the 27 previous Royal Rumble cards.
