Top Championship Match Not Planned For WWE Bad Blood

Following the WWE Bash in Berlin event, WWE is shifting its focus to the upcoming Bad Blood PLE in Atlanta, GA, on October 5th.

Although not confirmed, it appears WWE is building to a Drew McIntyre vs. CM Punk III bout, which could take place in the Hell in a Cell structure based on what they did on Monday’s Raw. WWE has confirmed a face-to-face meeting between Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes and Solo Sikoa on Friday’s SmackDown.

At SummerSlam, Rhodes went over Sikoa to retain his title after Roman Reigns made his return to screw Sikoa out of the title. At Bash in Berlin, Rhodes retained the title in his latest championship defense against Kevin Owens.

While speaking on Wrestling Observer Radio, Dave Meltzer noted Rhodes vs. Sikoa isn’t planned for Bad Blood.

Meltzer said, “One thing real quick. So, on the Cody-Solo Sikoa front, from what I was told, Cody and Solo are not scheduled for Bad Blood. But they are scheduled. I don’t know when the match is going to be. They are obviously on Friday’s show. They’re going to set up a match…….I have not been told this. This is just my guess. They may do it on the first show back on the USA Network.”

Meltzer pointed out that, as usual, WWE will load up the first SmackDown back on the USA Network.
