Top NCAA wrestler has talked with WWE officials about possible career

Top NCAA wrestling champion Gable Steveson from the University of Minnesota got people talking when he took to Twitter on Sunday by noting, “I am going to be the biggest star @wwe has ever had.”

His brother, Bobby Steveson,  has been training at the WWE Performance Center. Gable spoke with Fightful Select after he sent out his tweets.

This is where he confirmed that he’s spoken with several people in WWE such as Paul Heyman, Triple H, Gerald Brisco, and others in the past about possibly joining the company. He noted that he’s playing the waiting game right now because he’s largely focused on the Olympics, but he does want to wrestle for WWE.

Gable continued by stating he’s not had time to keep up with much pro wrestling as of late but wants to pursue a WWE career. He didn’t rule out the possibility of a pro football career as Brock Lesnar attempted to take that path.

Gable has trained with Lesnar, who also wrestled at the college, in the past.
