Top star dealing with a concussion, WrestleMania title match could be in jeopardy

It was reported earlier this month that Asuka is not cleared to wrestle as she is considered to be injured.

In late February during a match on WWE Raw, she was kicked in the mouth and lost a tooth. She worked a tag team bout alongside Charlotte Flair against Shayna Baszler and Nia Jax. This was confirmed by Charly Caruso on Raw Talk. At the time, there was speculation that she suffered a concussion, but since WWE does not post updates when a talent is concussed, there was nothing confirmed.

Asuka is currently penciled in to defend the Raw Women’s Championship against Charlotte Flair at WrestleMania 37. However, that match is in jeopardy of not taking place as scheduled.

Dave Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter that Asuka is out with a concussion from the kick by Baszler. He noted that the problem with a concussion is that Asuka could be fine next week or she could not be cleared for a long time.

He wrote, “there’s enough time left that she probably would be back for Mania but that’s not a sure thing.” WWE is in a tough spot as “Flair’s second Mania direction has a chance of also being in jeopardy.”

WWE has not announced an opponent for Asuka at Fastlane. It’s possible an opponent will likely be announced once she is cleared or WWE could keep her out of action for a bit longer, but still use her on TV.
