WWE will be giving a look at two NXT 2.0 stars at tonight’s SmackDown event from Evansville, Indiana at the Ford Center.
John Pollock of POST Wrestling reported on Twitter that Johnny Gargano and Kyle O’Reilly are scheduled for a dark match at the show. WWE will bring in NXT stars to work non-televised bouts as a way to potentially consider if they’re deemed ready to be called up to the main roster.

WWE previously did this with the likes of Austin Theory, Keith Lee, Karrion Kross, Scarlett Bordeaux, Shotzi Blackheart, and Tegan Knox earlier this year. All of them except for Scarlett were actually called up.
Of course, the main roster runs for Lee and Kross didn’t last long as the company released these two stars in addition to several other wrestlers on Thursday.
Gargano is currently in a feud with Trick Williams and NXT North American Champion Carmelo Hayes while O’Reilly has been paired with Von Wagner in a program with Ridge Holland Pete Dune as of late on NXT 2.0 television.
