It appears that Oba Femi has vacated the NXT Championship following the conclusion of Tuesday night’s episode of WWE NXT.
The broadcast ended with a segment indicating that Femi’s tenure with the developmental brand had concluded, effectively relinquishing the title he held. This development coincides with WWE airing promotional video packages for Femi on recent episodes of Monday Night Raw and Friday Night SmackDown, signaling his transition to the company’s main roster.
Following the broadcast, Femi addressed his status on Instagram. He posted a photo with a caption confirming the conclusion of his run in NXT.
“The End is also part of the journey,” Femi wrote. “FIN.”
Main Roster Promotion
The decision to vacate the championship aligns with the recent marketing push for Femi on WWE’s primary television programs. Over the past week, vignettes airing on both Raw and SmackDown have highlighted Femi, suggesting an imminent debut. While a specific brand affiliation has not been announced, the timing places his potential arrival during the build to the Royal Rumble premium live event.
NXT Tenure and Background
Femi’s departure concludes a title reign that began after he cashed in his contract from winning the NXT Breakout Tournament.
Femi signed with WWE in 2022 as part of the company’s “Next In Line” (NIL) program, designed to recruit collegiate athletes. Prior to professional wrestling, he was a track and field athlete at the University of Alabama, where he won the shot put title at the 2022 SEC Indoor Track & Field Championships.
Since making his televised debut in 2023, Femi rose rapidly through the NXT ranks. His victory in the Breakout Tournament provided him with a guaranteed championship opportunity, which he successfully utilized to capture the NXT Championship. No word yet from WWE how how they plan to crown a new NXT Champion.
