There is hope internally within WWE that former champion Bianca Belair will be able to make her return to the ring by SummerSlam this August, if not sooner, according to a report today from PWInsider.com. Belair has been off WWE television since suffering an injury at WrestleMania 41 this past April.
The “EST of WWE” suffered several broken fingers during the Women’s Money in the Bank ladder match at WrestleMania 41. The injury occurred during the course of the chaotic match, which was ultimately won by Naomi. Belair has been recuperating since the event.
Her injury forced a significant change in plans for a major storyline in the women’s division. According to the PWInsider report, WWE Creative had to “recalibrate” its plans for Belair’s involvement in the feud between Naomi and Jade Cargill. Initial plans reportedly called for Belair to be a key figure in that rivalry, but the injury required her to be written off television for recovery.
A return by SummerSlam, which takes place on Saturday, August 2nd, would place her return at just over three months post-injury, aligning with a potential recovery window.
