Following his tag team victory on Night 1 of SummerSlam, Roman Reigns is expected to take another hiatus from WWE programming to accommodate his growing acting career. While his return is not expected for several months, he is already being advertised for the Survivor Series premium live event in November.
A Victorious Exit at SummerSlam
Last night, on Night 1 of the two-night SummerSlam event, Roman Reigns teamed with his cousin, “Main Event” Jey Uso, to defeat Bron Breakker and Bronson Reed. The match concluded after Reigns delivered a Spear to Reed for the pinfall victory.
Hollywood Calling
Reigns’ expected time off is to allow him to travel to Australia to begin filming his role in the upcoming live-action “Street Fighter” movie. As previously reported, Reigns has been cast as the iconic villain Akuma in the major motion picture. Production for the film is slated to begin in August, making his departure from WWE television imminent.
Return Set for Survivor Series
While WWE has not officially announced the hiatus, Reigns is currently being advertised for the Survivor Series premium live event on Saturday, November 22, 2025. This advertised appearance suggests an absence of approximately three and a half months from WWE programming, a timeframe consistent with the schedule for a major film production.
The Limited Schedule of a Top Star
This upcoming break is part of a limited schedule that Reigns has worked for the past couple of years as he makes a concerted transition into Hollywood. Similar to the paths of John Cena and The Rock before him, Reigns’ reduced number of appearances has been part of a strategy to make his matches feel like special, must-see attractions while he builds his acting resume.
