WWE has been able to re-sign many talent to new deals throughout 2024, including Drew McIntyre, Seth Rollins, Natalya, and others. However, they’ve also not reached new deals with Becky Lynch and Ricochet.
This past May, Kevin Owens revealed that his contract with WWE is slated to expire in the near future, as he has nine months left on it. Since then, there’s been no update on his contract status.
Owens has been paired with Randy Orton on WWE television in recent months. They had been in a feud that led to a triple threat match at WrestleMania 40 with United States Champion Logan Paul. They went on to feud with The Bloodline.
Sports Illustrated’s The Takedown has an interview with Owens, in which he told the outlet that “the only change in his contract status since then [interview with The Metro] is that there’s now less time on his deal.” No further details were given as to why he hasn’t signed a new deal or what his intentions are for the future.
Owens is days away from challenging Cody Rhodes for the Undisputed WWE Championship at Saturday’s Bash in Berlin pay-per-view event.
