WWE World Heavyweight Champion GUNTHER has reportedly reached the final stages of negotiations for a new multi-year contract with WWE, according to PWInsider.com. Sources suggest that “The Ring General” has either just finalized the deal or is putting the finishing touches on an agreement that will keep him with the company for the foreseeable future.
This news comes as no surprise to many wrestling fans, as GUNTHER has been a dominant force in WWE since his arrival in 2019 on the NXT brand. GUNTHER’s has been pushed as a monster heel on the main roster. He captured the Intercontinental Championship and enjoyed a lengthy reign, elevating the title’s prestige with hard-hitting defenses against top contenders. He recently retained his World Heavyweight Championship against Damian Priest at Survivor Series, though the match was marred by interference from Finn Balor.
Interestingly, it appears GUNTHER may be undergoing a character shift. Last night on Raw, after defeating Dominik Mysterio, he was brutally attacked by Balor, seemingly turning “The Ring General” babyface. This attack sets the stage for their upcoming match at Saturday Night’s Main Event.
