Daniel Bryan was interviewed by his wife Brie and sister-in-law Nikki Bella this week on The Bellas podcast. There was some wrestling talk mixed in with some talk about Brie’s pregnancy.
“Brie knows I have always wanted a second child so I always wanted two.” Bryan said, “I was super happy and when Nicole got pregnant and we found out how close you were together, in my mind, it’s weird because it registered like ‘of course.’
He added, “It’s like, ‘of course, this is just how things work with them.’ The idea of that to me is super cool. I think one of the things that I’ve really admired about your family is how close you guys are to cousins because I didn’t have a lot of that.”
Bryan said his cousins didn’t live close to his extended family so he couldn’t see them that much, so that makes him excited about his babies being able to get close with Nikki’s baby. He says it stresses him out a little because he travels and Brie is also busy.
“It used to be kind of hard for me at first but now it’s something that I really treasure is when Brie’s gone and I get my Birdie time because she is such a momma’s girl…”
Bryan said when he was forced to retire, he didn’t have something else besides wrestling in his life but that has changed now that he is a father and he loves being a dad and he loves finding things at home that he and Birdie can do together. He went on to say that WWE has treated him well during Brie’s pregnancy and he indicated that he may wrestle a much lighter schedule.
Bryan said, “WWE has been great, they’re gonna give me 6 weeks paternity leave which so few places in the United States do that. So I’ll get to be home that first six weeks. Then after that, it’s not long until my contract is up. We’ve been talking about what we do from there. To me, in my mind, it’s almost like I think I’m just done being a full-time wrestler.”
Bryan added, “I will always love wrestling. And I will always want to do wrestling. When I say always do wrestling that means maybe once a month or once every couple of months”
He did not say when his contract expires. He signed his current contract in September 2018 so if he signed a 2-year deal then he could be a free agent shortly after SummerSlam.
Brie said that having two kids changes the game but she supports whatever Bryan wants to do. She said they have a nanny that travels with them but now that they are having a second kid, they will need to adjust their lives.
Brie Bella and Daniel Bryan’s pregnancy journey will be covered in the upcoming season of Total Bellas. Nikki said that Bryan and her fiance Artem Chigvintsev will interact a lot on the show.
During the podcast, Bryan also talks about wanting to wrestle part-time, his contract status, how he feels about having a second child and more.
